You can turn on startup by going to Call > Audio Settings > General settings > Check "Start Skype when I start Windows". Skype will start automatically every time Windows starts.

I live in Kenya (Africa), and I like to have free video calls on Skype, but the problem is that I don't get all for free because my network charges even more than on Yahoo Messenger using this free video call application. What can I do about it?

P
Answer by Pete Clapp

As you can see on the official web page, the video calls are free of charge and you can call anyone who also has Skype. If you call someone that is using Skype and you are charged for this, you will need to contact your network service provider.

You can't do that because it has a strict privacy regarding this sort of things. You can't find the IP address. Sometimes the location is defined in the user's problem.

What is the difference between 'last seen' and 'last activity' for a profile status in Skype?

P
Answer by Phillip 5

Last Seen is when they were last online (in any status).

Last activity is when they actually DO something on the system (make call, send an IM, etc).

It's necessary to know both pieces of information to see if someone is able to actually be at the PC/system to take a phone call. For example, my system has my last seen usually always updated, as Skype auto launches on ALL of my computers. However, when i'm not around, or watching a movie, for example, my last activity may be a few hours old. This let's my work team, for example, know that i'm not actively at my computer.

We can't hear the speakers. Can you help?

D
Answer by Dan Angel

In order to fix the issue, right-click the Sound icon from System Tray and select Playback devices. Right-click anywhere in the provided window and check the Show Disabled Devices option. After that, select your speaker device and click the Properties button. Set Use this device (Enable) as device usage, click OK, select the device again and press the Set Default button. If it doesn't help, go to Start, type dxdiag and open the utility. Click the Sound tab, check your audio card model and download and install the latest drivers available from the developer's page. If you still have issues, uninstall and reinstall the software.

You can use the official guide to remove the link between Skype and Facebook. The tutorial also offers reconnection tips in case you want to bring them back together in the future.

Skype toolbar and web features allow you to dynamically dial numbers from websites, web applications, and any other internet enabled application launched from a browser. For example, if you browse to a companies website, and they have their phone number listed, then you will be able to click on the phone number to direct dial them.

For those who use IE7 and IE8, it's best to turn off skype web features, as it not only slows down the browsing of the site, but often causes instability of the browser.
